    Callie the Super-Dog

Recap: Callie was ran over by a car. A few days later she fell into a mine shaft. She couldn't be rescued because it was too dangerous. Thinking Callie was in great pain, friend of the family shoots at dog twice. She was without food and water for 10 days until she was found and rescued by three campers.

Must be a bionic dog or something.

You Want Me To Do What???

I started reading through Hosea last week and read about Hosea and Gomer. Hosea was a prophet to the Northern Kingdom of Israel. God told Hosea to take Gomer as his wife and that she would be unfaithful to him. Seems crazy, but Hosea did what God told him to do. I put myself in that situation and I don't know what I would do. When God tells me to do something that seems a little bit crazy and illogical, I have to ask Him if He's sure I'm suppose to do it. And then of course I'll give my excuses like 'That's out of my comfort zone' or 'I'm not sure how to approach the situation.' Sometimes I'll run the opposite direction like Jonah did. But here's Hosea, he goes out and does it. He took a step of faith not knowing what God's plan was. I want to be able to step up to the plate and have God use me how He wants to.

The past 2 years I've grown a lot and on several occasions, stepped out of my comfort zone and did what I felt God leading me to do. Things like going on a youth trip, talking to someone I didn't know sitting by themselves and getting to know some of my co-workers more personally. I've even done some things that seemed crazy to me, and way out of my comfort zone, that God told me to do. Prime example: I volunteered to help out Middle School Youth For Christ this past school year. That wasn't the craziest part though... The crazy part was when I thought about dropping out, God told me to keep helping out, and I stayed.

What's something you've done that's out of your comfort zone that God told you to do?

  • "The One"aka The Perfect Soulmate

The topic of "The One" has come up in a few discussions I've had with people lately. You know, the perfect soulmate. "The One" God has chosen.

Anyways, I think there are different levels and scales of compatibility that could determine a good mate. There are also different common interests with different people. I do believe that God chooses people for us that He has designed for us. I'm not so sure if there is just "One", but I do think that God still leaves the decision up to us. Of course I've heard the stories where God makes it blatantly obvious who a person should marry.

I'm just not really sure about the whole topic. I really do want to hear your 2¢.

What are your views on the topic of having a Soulmate?

Life Update in 200 Words or Less... Or Your Money Back!

Oh, where to start... My girlfriend got a job and has moved to the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area. So she is now a 3 hour drive away. I am looking for a job in that area and have applied for a few. Right now I have 2 companies I'm waiting to hear from.

My church is still in the beginning stages of looking for a new pastor. We are also looking for a new Hispanic Minister.

I'm still working at the grocery store. They moved me to the produce section with 4 other full timers. I've never been in there, so I'm learning a lot of new stuff.

Vacation is coming up at the end of the month!!! We are hosting a family reunion at mine and my parents house so I took the preceding week off to clean up a little bit and relax. It's just a 2 day thing, but I haven't seen some of my cousins for a good 10, 15 years. Should be a fun time.

    That's all for now... :)

  • Mother's Day

Every year there is a day that comes along that we celebrate Mothers. Even though I think we should appreciate them all year long, I think we should make the extra effort and make sure they know that we appreciate them. Something I appreciate about Mothers is how they always seem to have some helpful advice or little quip they give, all free of charge. Here are some of my favorite.

-A little soap & water never killed anybody.

-Don't sit too close to the television, it'll ruin your eyes.

-Don't talk with your mouth full!

-Eat your vegetables, they're good for you.

-I brought you into this world, and I can take you out of it!

-I hope someday you have children just like you.

-Look at me when I'm talking to you.

-Pick up your feet when you walk.

-Don't put that in your mouth, you don't know where it's been.

-There's enough dirt in those ears to grow potatoes!

-This is going to hurt me more than it will hurt you.

-What if everyone jumped off a cliff? Would you do it, too?

-When conversations start with: When I was your age...

-If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

-I'm going to give you until the count of three...

-Finish your plate. Think of those poor starving children in Africa.

-When you have kids of your own you'll understand.

    -You should know better.

-Don't make that face or it will freeze in that position.

-Were you born in a barn? Shut the door.

-It's cold outside, put a coat on.

-You don't need a coat, it's warm outside.

    Happy Mother's Day!

  • Chia Obama???

Now really, this is just sad... They should be ashamed of themselves.

It's only been on the shelves a week but already Wallgreens pulled it from their test markets in Tampa and Chicago. Their spokesman said, "We decided to pull the product because it didn't fit with our corporate image." "We also didn't want to be subject to any misinterpretation over the product. People could interpret it through a political viewpoint or other viewpoints and we want to avoid that situation."

The spokesman also said an AOL.com story early Tuesday misquoted him in reporting that customers had complained the product was "racist." "The word I used was "offensive."

But seriously... You know someone thought it was racist, and because of that they yanked it off their shelves. I don't think it is offensive or racist, just stupid. I don't know anyone that owns a Chia Pet.

Do you think the Chia Obama is racist, offensive to the office of President, or just plain stupid?

    Laugh of the Week

The other day my boss tried to log onto his work e-mail and couldn't. So he called the corporate IT office and told them about the problem. The conversation went something like this:

"I think the e-mail is down."

"Yes we know about the problem, didn't you get the e-mail?"

    "What?"

"Yeah, we sent out an e-mail about the problem."

    "Are you joking with me?"

    "No... Why?"

"OK, think about what you said and call me back when you get it."

About 5 minutes later they called back laughing and apologized. Whoops!
